Suspect caught in robbery

The suspect in Thursday’s robbery of Keith’s Shell Station, 1911 S. Mission St., has been taken into custody.
Anthony C. Reinke, 20, is sitting in jail for one count of armed robbery of the gas station and possession of marijuana.
Reinke is being charged with walking into the station at 4:41 a.m. and told the female clerk, “I want the money.” The woman handed over an undisclosed amount of cash and said it did not appear the man was carrying a weapon.
The suspect allegedly was wearing jeans, a sweatshirt, tennis shoes, orange gloves and a white cloth over his head.
Sgt. Dan Gaffka of the Mount Pleasant Police Department said officers received a surveillance tape from the store which the female clerk thought contained the image of the person who had robbed the station buying a pop earlier in the morning, prior to the robbery.
Officers identified a man on the tape, and took the picture to businesses which were still open in the area around 4 a.m. Upon finding people who could identify the person, Gaffka said police went to interview him – Reinke.
The suspect was found at his residence with marijuana on him and gave a written statement and a full confession to the robbery. Gaffka said officers believe there was only one person involved in the crime at this time.
