To the Editor,
This woman desperately needs counseling. As a woman
I say that Sara is a disgrace to thinking females everywhere.
She states that she:

  • intended to spend the night with “John.”
  • hugged him, held hands, exchanged one small kiss.
  • lay on a bed (watching?) while “John” changed into
    his pajamas.
  • stayed on the bed as he checked his e-mail.
  • asked him to help her undress and put her pajamas
    on.
  • let him kiss and touch her.
  • realized his clothes were off and STILL didn’t
retreat but continued kissing and rubbing until he laid on her.

And this is supposed to be when she
realizes what he is interested in? What was she interested in? Why did
she stay for more? And WHY, WHY, WHY would Sara let this man into her
room AFTER this first incident, “let” him use her (??) and then decide
she wants to press charges??
Sara says she told “John” she was unhappy that he
put her in that position. SARA!! Take responsibility for your actions.
She may have convinced herself that she was a virgin,
but she is an absolute slap in the face to the women I know who have
maintained their virginity and to those who have been sexually abused
and/or raped. Sara needs to stop kidding herself and get real. She would
have us believe that kissing, hugging and orgasms aren’t sex, just penile
penetration.
Virginity is more than a lack of penile penetration.
Virginity should be lived easily and comfortably,
not flaunted at a stranger met at a bookstore. Virginity isn’t based
on a technical, physical condition. It is a decision to live a life
of sexual purity with integrity. This integrity is the application of
your moral will to every aspect of your behavior. Integrity doesn’t
let a self-titled “virgin” spend the night with a stranger, naked on
his bed. Integrity is that part of our personality that will rescue
a rape victim and will let her know that her virginity is intact, regardless
of any physical condition.
I am convinced that Sara’s integral virginity was
gone long before that night in “John’s” room.
