Galien Senior Erin Kroeger, a political science major, said she is confident that her degree can provide her with a secure job after graduation.

“I am certain that I will get a job within my field. I am happy that I chose CMU for my educational needs,” she said.

Galien senior KC Keefer, a psychology major, said he is not planning on getting a job immediately after graduation.

“I am doubtful that I will be getting the job I seek after graduation. I plan to go to graduate school,” Keefer said.

She also isn’t planning on a job in the Mount Pleasant area.

“I am not so sure that I will be able to find a job in this area, but time will tell,” she said.

Some students said they already have a job lined up after graduation and are very secure with it.

Joe Angell, Troy freshman, said he is majoring in accounting.

So where will this freshman find his employment after he dons his cap and gown and picks up his diploma?

“My parents own an accounting firm so I will be working with them.”

Angell said he knew at an early age what he wanted to be.

“I have always loved working with numbers,” he said.

Beth Hengesbach, Charlotte sophomore, said she is a communications major and is confident she chose the right field.

“I have a double minor in advertising and marketing. I already have a job in advertising, although it isn’t the best job in the world. Getting a degree in communications will help me land an even better job,” she said.

Ryan Ensminker, Waterford sophomore, said he is confident he will get the job he is seeking with a degree in information technology.

“I feel reasonably sure I will get the job I want once I finish here because there are probably going to be plenty of opportunities in this area.”

Melanie Maxwell, Livonia sophomore, said she is a journalism major.

Despite feeling confident in her chosen field, she said she doesn’t feel as secure after graduation.

“I have no jobs lined up now, but hopefully I will get something close to home. Right now I just don’t have the confidence that a job will be there waiting for me once I leave CMU,” Maxwell said.

Brianna Schultz, Whitehall sophomore, said she is happy she chose to attend CMU, but does see a downside.

“My major is deaf education, but CMU doesn’t offer a degree in it. I will have to transfer to Michigan State University next semester. I would have rather only gone to one college,” she said.

Eaton Rapids senior James McNabb said he will graduate with a degree in computer science in May.

He said he likes the field he has chosen, but doesn’t have a very positive view of CMU.

“The college leaves a lot to be desired. I learn more on my own. Overall, I am not to happy with CMU because their computer science program is at least three years behind,” he said.
