Saunders to direct final concert, ever
CMU will witness the end of an era on Tuesday.
Jazz Lab I performs its last concert under conductor Jack Saunders at 8 p.m. Tuesday in the Recital Hall in CMU’s Music Building.
Saunders, who founded the band in 1963, is a music professor, director of CMU’s Marching Chippewas, coordinator of Jazz Studies and organizer of the annual Jazz Festival, according to a press release.
Saunders is slated to retire in August.
The concert will open with Central Air, led by faculty saxophonist John Nichol, professor of music.
The concert is free and open to the public.
