Smith Letter

To the Editor,
I am very disappointed to see that Sue Smith has decided to break her pledge, YET AGAIN, to run a clean, honest campaign for state representative. According to the article I read about the clean campaign pledge, she gave her word that she would not “willfully distort her opponent’s record.” Based on her most recent campaign advertisements and press conferences, it is obvious to me that she has chosen to break this commitment.
Sandy Caul dedicated her life to taking care of the people of our community in our local hospitals and nursing homes. And now she has dedicated herself to improving health care as our state representative. Because of Rep. Caul’s hard work, for example, Michigan now has a prescription drug program which makes sure that needy senior citizens will receive the medical coverage they need. Without her first-hand experience in the health care field, this program may not have been possible. Sue Smith should be ashamed for distorting Rep. Caul’s great accomplishments.
Let’s not reward Sue Smith for breaking her promises and resorting to negative campaigning. Instead, lets reward Rep. Sandy Caul for being a state representative we can be proud of.
