Applications available for studying abroad

Studying abroad can widen your college experience and the Office of International Education is currently accepting application for students interested in the program.
“There are scholarships for students who may need financial help such as Financial Aid and other scholarships,” said Director of International Education Guilan Wang.
The deadline for submitting applications for summer and fall scholarships is Feb. 28 and Sept. 30 for spring scholarships.
It is recommended that students study abroad their junior year, but sophomores, seniors and graduate students are also eligible.
CMU has more than 200 approved programs in more than 50 countries.
“You can study for a few weeks in the summer and one semester, or one full academic year. The choice is up to the student,” Gall said.
“Studying abroad allows the student to have an amazing time studying with a different perceptive. It also gives flexibility and adaptability to work with their new environment. Also, students that study abroad are more marketable,” said Meredith Gall, study abroad adviser for International Education.
The deadline for summer 2001 applications is Feb. 15.
Application are processed on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Wang said walk-in information hours are available from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Mondays, from 1 to 4:30 p.m. on Tuesdays, from 2 to 4 p.m. on Wednesdays, from 1 to 4:30 p.m. on Thursdays and from 1 to 4 p.m. on Fridays .
Interested students can also attend a summer study abroad information session from 4 to 5 p.m. on Wednesday in the Bovee University Center Lake St. Clair Room.
An Asia study abroad informational session will take place from 2 to 3 p.m. on Jan. 26 in the Office of International Education.
The fall study abroad information session will take place from 4 to 5 p.m. on Jan 30 in the BUC Lake St. Clair Room.
