Here are the ones listed on the city of Mount Pleasant Web site, along with their
descriptions of the parks.
1. Chipp-A-Waters Park 1403 W. High St.
This 30-acre park is located on the west side of town near the city limits. Facilities
include rest rooms, open-air picnic shelter, picnic tables and grills, play equipment,
parking area and nature trails.
2. Island Park 331 N. Main St.
This 50-acre park is located in the center of town and is completely surrounded
by the Chippewa River.
Facilities include three lit softball fields, four lit tennis courts, two lit
basketball courts, two large open air picnic shelters, play equipment, four small
picnic shelters, two restrooms, drinking fountains, picnic tables and grills,
four shuffleboard courts, parking areas, four sand volleyball courts, eight horseshoe
pits, Little League baseball fields at Pickens Field, Michigan Vietnam Veterans’
Memorial, and Timber Town Playscape.
3. Mill Pond Park 607 S. Adams St.
This 90-acre park is located in the center of the community, bordered by Broadway
and High streets.
It is a mostly wooded wetland area with the Chippewa River running through the
entire park. Facilities include paved walking/bicycle paths, nature trails, rest-observation
decks, parking areas, restroom facilities, fishing pond, play equipment, picnic
tables and grills, and a large open-air shelter. A nature center is under development.
4. Mission Creek Woodland Park 1458 N. Harris St.
This 60-acre park is located on the northwest side of town. This park brings you
back to nature, with picturesque scenery that can be enjoyed from the nature trails
which wind through hard woods. This beautiful, rustic park features two open-air
picnic shelters, grills, open play field, rustic restroom and play equipment.
It is also home to Mount Pleasant’s Haunted Forest and sledding hill.
5. Nelson Park 714 W. Broadway St.
This five-acre park is situated between Island and Mill Pond parks and is centrally
located in the city. Its central location makes it easy to visit neighboring parks
through a nature trail and a crosswalk. This river-front park features picnic
tables, grills, modern restrooms and a zoo which houses deer, one bear, and raccoons.
6. Potter Park 601 S. Pine St.
Less than an acre, this park is nestled in the middle of a city neighborhood.
It features a hard-surfaced play area, a playfield and play equipment.
7. Sunnyside Park 1511 Elm St.
This 17-acre park is on the west side of town near the city limits. Newly reconstructed,
this park features playground equipment, a hard-surfaced play area, modern restrooms,
parking areas and open playfields. This park is home to our youth soccer program
and houses several soccer fields.
