CM LIFE is to be commended for the quality product it puts out
every week. The
Oct. 8 edition is a case in point. Even during this difficult time, a
time when
students especially must be looking at the world they live in and
wonder where
their place is, CM LIFE manages to still highlight some of the
many positive
events going on in the campus community.
Here are some examples of positive reporting and
human-interest stories from
the Oct. 8 issue that are relevant, worthwhile, and often
uplifting:
- The page one article about the Powwow. Congratulations to
everyone involved,
especially the North American Indian Student Organization and
Lisa Tiger,
Native American Programs director. - The story about the CROPwalk, and how it raised more than
$13,000 for needy
families in Isabella County and beyond. - Cancer Walk exceeding its fund-raising goals.
- The useful advice about how students can use Career
Services. - Factual information about getting a double major, and the
article about
the importance of academic advising. - The story about the 42 physician assistant students who will
be participating
in the “White Coat” ceremony as they prepare for
clinical work. - Accounting Professor Thomas Weirich’s Distinguished
Achievement in
Accounting Education award from the Michigan Association of
Certified Public
Accountants. Congratulations, Professor Weirich. - President Rao’s continuing forums designed to solicit
input from students,
faculty, staff and the community. - The women’s soccer team and its outstanding victory
against Marshall. - David Palmer’s opinions on the top 10 movies ever
produced. I’m
going to clip and save it.
So, even though CM LIFE never shies away from the
controversial and tough stories
of the day, it is gratifying to see that the positive can still be
featured.
Keep up the great work.
