Fisher Letter
I’m not sure there’s ever been a better editorial in the
80-plus years of our newspaper than Wednesday’s
“Journalism cuts unconscionable.” The piece could
easily have been titled, “CMU screws students.”
“But, then again, what else is new?”
JRN Chair John Hartman’s resignation speaks volumes
about his passion for students and teaching. His action is a
lesson in ethics for all of us! We should stand behind him in this
matter, and fight the administration to reinstate the canceled
courses.
The dean’s decision to cut classes is deplorable and the
ramifications far-reaching — JRN student/alum or not. Beware.
Your major is next in line for budget cuts, even as enrollment
numbers and tuition costs skyrocket.
Where is this increased revenue going? Somebody’s got to
pay for all these “lovely” new buildings around
campus!
Here’s betting JRN alums won’t play a role in that.
