Burger King nearing completion
People will eat at the Burger King on 1912 S. Mission St. by mid-September if everything stays on schedule.
The new building is part of Burger King’s “new image,” and will slightly resemble the restaurants on Pickard and Remus roads, both of which are open. Cole Construction is handling the reconstruction.
“It’s going to be a striking building,” said foreman Gary Cole. “We hope to have it finished by mid-September if all goes well.”
Cole said the building is on schedule and the only factor that hindered progress was the weather.
The new building, which replaces the old Burger King in the same location, will offer features different from the previous restaurant. The new layout is much more drive-through friendly, facing Broomfield Road, instead of Mission Street.
“You had traffic coming at you from all directions and it was nearly impossible to get out with the old setup,” Cole said.
The dining room seating has been reduced from 119 seats to 58 seats, which will be in view of the front counter. The overall color scheme is much brighter than before and the building will feature new BK logo.
Cole Construction has built or remodeled at least a dozen Burger Kings in the 30 years it has been in business. The Mount Pleasant-based company builds both residential and commercial projects.
