Hispanic Heritage Month continues
Students can use their senses to experience Hispanic Heritage Month Thursday in the Bovee University Center.
From 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Minority Student Services will host “A Taste of Latino Culture” in the BUC Rotunda, featuring Hispanic foods and entertainment.
“ARAMARK will be doing the food services. They will have an array of Hispanic foods. They do a lot of our cultural programs,” said Jeanette Smith, Minority Student Services administrative secretary.
The price of admission is $5 for faculty, staff and community and $3 for students and children.
A Mariachi band and the Mexican Folkloric Ballet of Saginaw Entertainment will provide the entertainment.
The goal of the event is to reach out to all cultures, not just Hispanic, Smith said.
“It’s to reach out to everybody, to give them a good cultural view and to join in the celebration of the Hispanic heritage,” Smith said.
Students, faculty, staff and the community are encouraged to attend the event to learn about another culture and to eat good food, she said.
“It’s a teaching of cultural awareness. We encourage everyone to come and join in the celebration of Hispanic culture. It’s a very colorful and flavorful event.”
