Seniors Henderson, Eidson earn honors

Laurie Henderson and Desiree Eidson were veteran leaders on a CMU women’s
basketball team that brimmed with inexperience.

During the team’s annual awards banquet, Henderson earned the team’s
“Most Valuable Player” award. The guard finished the season scoring
in double figures five of her final seven games. Henderson led the team in
assists 10 times this season and had a career-high 15 points against Oklahoma
State.

Henderson’s all-around ability also received recognition, as she won
“Best Defensive Player” and “Top Free-Throw Shooter.”

Eidson leaves CMU as the latest member of the 1,000 point club. One of the
best rebounders in the MAC, Eidson earned team’s “Top Rebounder.”
The forward averaged 6.2 per game this season.

Freshman Chasidy Myers’ steady progression earned her “The Most
Improved” award, while sophomore Emily Gross’ consistant hard work
and dedidcation were major factors in her winning the “Free Throw and
Three Point Champion” awards.

The Dee Pommerenk award began last season to reward a player who displayes
a positive attitude, teamwork and a willingness to contribute to the maximum
effort. Hard-working junior Raina Harmon won the award.
