Student IDs vital for college life
The true mark of orientation for every student is coming home with the Student
Identification Card.
At CMU, the office which creates and manages this ID does everything they
can to make it the most convenient piece of plastic in a student’s wallet.
A Campus ID will gain a student access to the dining commons, the CLAS testing
center, the Student Activity Center, Indoor Athletic Complex and all sporting
events.
The Student ID Office, located across from Independent Bank on the second
floor of the Bovee University Center, is responsible for many things associated
with the card, including the opportunity to turn the ID into a debit card if
an account is opened at the bank.
If an ID is damaged or lost, students have two options. Temporary IDs are
available for $2 and are valid for three days, or replacement ID’s can
be purchased for $20.
“People need to realize that these cards will last if they take good
care of them,” said Penny Leathley, Student ID Office coordinator.
Cards are sometimes replaced for free if they were faulty to begin with, but
Leathley said students should stop by the office to determine if this is the
case.
