Contest open for photographers

Amateur photographers looking to get their names out to the picture world have the chance at over $60,000 in prizes if they enter the International Library of Photography’s Open Amateur Photography Contest.

Entries are due Oct. 31.

Participants may submit one photo to one of the 10 available categories: People, Travel, Pets, Children, Sports, Nature, Action, Humor, Portraiture, or Other. The photo must be a color or black-and-white unmounted print and include the photographer’s name and address on the back, as well as the entered category and title of the photo.

“When people learn about our free photography contest, they suddenly realize that their own favorite photos can win cash prizes, as well as gain national exposure," said Christina Baylon, contest director. “Everyone has at least one memorable photo that captures a special moment in time.”

A favorite photograph could garnish one of over 1300 prizes, with an estimated $60,000 being awarded to this year’s winners, she estimated.

The contest is open to all Mount Pleasant residents and the entry fee is absolutely free, the only restriction is that the photo submitted must be an original work. Photographs should be sent to: The International Library of Photography, Suite 101-2617, 3600 Crondall Lane, Owings Mills, MD 21117.
