Anyone who knows their college football is quite aware of what Central Michigan is capable of doing to higher-ranked in-state rivals.
In 1991 and 1992, the Chippewas upset Michigan State – which was ranked 18th in 1991 – and gave Michigan fans bragging rights no matter what happened in East Lansing and in Ann Arbor those years.
With that said, Central lacks the depth and a proven quarterback that Michigan has. While Mike DeBord will have a very solid team ready to go in his Big House return, the only real stories will be to watch a Marlin Jackson-less secondary in a test outside of practice. Freshman LaMarr Woodley’s switch from linebacker to defensive end and to see if Michigan’s wide receivers can run routes and catch as well as they can fly on the field.
