Open Mic kicks off tonight
Students who have an ear for music, poetry or just have a talent they want
to show off have the chance to do so at tonight’s first Open Mic Night at
9 p.m. in Carey Residential Restaurant.
Stephen Perkins, Ypsilanti sophomore, On The Fly public relations chairman
said Open Mic is a chance for students to showcase their talents in a relaxed
setting.
No Limit, a vocal band out of the Midwest, includes Luke Adsit (lead vocals
and high tenor), Luke Jensen (vocal percussionist and baritone), AJ Moen
(lead vocals and high tenor), and Chad Ryfinski (bass).
“This four-man vocal band is an amazing combination of a cappella-style
music, with influences from rock, pop and rhythm and blues, and then bring
it all together with their own little twist,” according to its Web site,
www.nolimit.com.
No Limit has also won various awards around the U.S. In 2002, they won
best original song at a regional Harmony Sweepstakes in Illinois. They
also performed during “All Star Week” for the Major League Baseball Association
in Milwaukee, WI.
“They’re great performers,” Perkins said.
No Limit will be performing for about an hour, singing a variety of songs.
Open Mic Night is free and open to the public.
