Losses on gridiron leaving Chippewas behind in the MAC

I am an alumnus, and I am concerned. I graduated in 1975, and I still
follow Central sports as best I can even though I live in Florida.

Central does well in basketball, wrestling and most other sports, while
football seems to progressively get worse. In the ’70s, ’80s and into the
’90s, we were the class of the league. Now it seems we are fast becoming
the doormat of the MAC. While the other teams in the conference are improving
and playing strong Division I-A programs, we are scheduling teams like New
Hampshire and Eastern Kentucky, I-AA schools and barely winning. You see
Bowling Green beat Purdue and Northern Illinois beat Maryland, and you get
the feeling we are being left behind.

Coach DeBord has had his chance and failed. We need a new coach to take
us in another direction or we may risk losing our I-A status. Coach DeBord
is not the answer. Let’s find someone who is. Please!
