Inspector Forsberg joins city police

After searching for the perfect qualifier, the Mount Pleasant Police Department has hired a new inspector.

Thomas Forsberg started last Monday, replacing Inspector Glenn Feldhauser, who was promoted to captain.

“With over 26 years of experience, the biggest thing he will help us
with is adding to our mission statement qualities of being more
involved with the community,” said Charles Morrison, public information
officer for the department. “Forsberg will help us keep advancing into
the most progressive police department we can be.”

Forsberg said the citizens are his number one priority.

“Law enforcement is about delivering service to the citizens we work
for. Providing service to the citizens of Mount Pleasant is my
expectation for my new position,” he said

He said he would like to further familiarize himself with the department and city before he makes any changes.

“We have an obligation to provide the best law enforcement public
safety service we can,” Forsberg said. “If I see a place to make an
improvement on, I would make that suggestion.”

He has spent the last 26 years with the Michigan State Police. He
began his career in 1974 with the Tittabawassee Township Police
Department.

Forsberg has worked in a plethora of settings: state patrolman,
detective, specialist sergeant fire marshal division, lieutenant and
post commander. He also has had wide-ranging experience in the criminal
investigation division dealing with narcotics.

The most recent position he has handled was post commander at the Bridgeport post.

“I think Mount Pleasant has a lot to offer with the university and
the community itself. I’m excited to be a part of that,” he said.

Morrison said Forsberg’s personality and professional qualities make him an “intricate part of the department’s puzzle.”
