Thanks, On The Fly, for bringing ‘quality entertainment’

First and foremost, this is a letter of appreciation, nothing more. Call
me what you will (I prefer the term fan), but it is good to express appreciation
sometimes. I am not a sentimental guy usually, but the end of the year is
quickly approaching, and I have put this off long enough. It is time for
me to express my appreciation for (arguably) the best RSO at CMU.

For those that are not aware, On The Fly Productions is responsible for
bringing quality entertainment to the campus of CMU. 311 and The Snocore
Concert were the largest entertainers brought here by OTF this year alone.
Comics, hypnotists, open mic nights, (my hat goes off to those people, I
could never do that) famous poets, the list goes on and on. But now
I would like to talk about the club itself.

The first impression I received from these people is that they enjoy having
fun. I hard a hard time believing at first that these oddballs were the ones
that organized Mainstage two weeks ago. But they did their best to welcome
all the freshmen, or those upperclassmen that had never been there before.
There was a sense of relaxed happiness at the prospect of a new year with
new strangers. Although this is true for most groups, it was different here.
I can’t say why, but it seemed that the executive board was a really friendly
group. I really got the impression that I was needed and welcomed, even though
there were 50+ others there.

The Executive Board I think is the main reason the club runs so smoothly.
Although it is hard to single out anyone, the chairs of the three main committees
were the reason everyone came back. That may sound strange at first,
for one must join a committee anyway, but they do not have to stay there.
New members were always welcomed, which is important for any RSO. The
leaders of the comedy committee were easily the two funniest guys of the
RSO (I know that comes as a big shock). All six of them (two chairs for the
three committees) were true leaders, which is what the club must continually
maintain. This is certainly not to take away from the president and vice
president, for surely they do a lot of behind the scenes stuff that is still
greatly appreciated. The rest of this year’s executive board all performed
their responsibilities as well as anyone, which only adds to the unity of
the club. I do not mean to single out any member of OTF, e-board or otherwise,
but there is a word limit, and I have more to say.

Members of RSOs are not usually known for expressing their gratitude,
so I will. Thanks for making my freshman year one to remember OTF.
Keep up the excellent work, and I predict another enjoyable year ahead. Rock
on!
