Embezzlement investigation continues
CMU Police said Thursday they’ve made little progress investigating an
alleged $1,500 embezzlement involving a former employee who advised a
student organization last year.
Detective Sgt. Jeff Pickler said he is not certain whether or not
the case will be completed anytime soon.
“We still have some more digging to do,” Pickler said. “We’re still
investigating the complaint, getting questions answered and developing
the case for the prosecutor to review.”
The former adviser of the Registered Student Organization is still
being questioned for an unpaid bill for a show last spring in Warriner
Hall’s Plachta Auditorium.
Until the investigation is closed, the name of the RSO adviser won’t
be released, Pickler said.
The embezzlement complaint was reported two weeks ago to CMU Police,
however the actual incident is roughly a year old.
“There are some things that still need to be obtained like
additional information and records of witnesses and suspects,” Pickler
said.
Robert Ebner, director of University Events, said the group’s
adviser was billed last year for lighting, display, sound and crew.
The bill wasn’t paid for until recently, when the RSO was prompted
to get together with several other Greek organizations to pay the
$1,500 bill, Ebner said.
Pickler said one or two individuals last week were being sought out
for questioning in the ongoing embezzlement case. He did not indicate
if any progress was made among the individuals being questioned.
