Three speak to RHA Monday

The Residence Hall Assembly welcomed three guest speakers at Monday
night’s meeting.

Students representing the Organization of Women Leaders, the Student
Alumni Association and Siblings Weekend spoke about upcoming
opportunities to get involved.

Kari Talik, Saginaw senior and member of OWL, gave RHA members a
heads-up on forthcoming recruitment for the organization.

“It’s about empowering other people to do great things,” Talik said.

OWL works with the Women’s Aid Shelter and breast cancer awareness
among other worthy causes, and hopes to expand into helping with
professional development as soon as next semester.

Elizabeth Manning, president of the Student Alumni Association and
St. Johns senior, encouraged registration for “Take a Chippewa to
Lunch” day, in which students will be paired with alumni who earned
their degree in a similar field of interest.

Registration for this can be picked up in the Carlin Alumni House or
online at http://www.cmualum.com.

Siblings Weekend entertainment co-chair Laura Kaczor, Livonia
junior, said Sibs Weekend is a good opportunity to volunteer. A
committee meeting will take place at 2 p.m. Nov.19 in the Lake Superior
room of the Bovee University Center.

RHA vice president and New York senior Joe Camisa said RHA is
actively seeking two new team coordinators in the areas of public
relations and external programming. Applications are available in the
RHA office.

The meeting concluded with two students from Western Michigan
University who are also members of the Michigan Organization of
Residence Hall Associations.

Executive board member and WMU senior Michelle Zoellner was happy to
attend the meeting.

“We come to offer support and answer questions,” Zoellner said.
