Sex toy parties growing in popularity

These days a night out with girls is more than dinner, the movies or
the drinks at the bar.

It’s flipping through catalogs and talking about vibrators, sensual
lotions, lingerie and bedroom accessories at sex toy parties.

“Everyone needs a little excitement in their sex life,” said Burton
junior Kimberly O’Brien.

Pure Romance Inc. Personal Consultant Theresa Martin hosted a party
as a fund-raiser for CMU’s American Society of Interior Design.

The company sells everything sex-related from penis-shaped ice cube
trays to flavored lubricants.

Twenty percent of the sales was donated to the design organization
for its annual trip.

The parties are more popular than people might think, Martin said.

“Most (consultants) who do this around here, in Isabella County, do
about five parties a week,” she said.

Pure Romance, one of many similar companies, has more than 6,200
consultants nationwide and has seen an average business increase of 62
percent since the woman-to-woman business’ inception in 1993.
