At 6:23 p.m. Thursday – the exact time this photograph was taken – Michigan officially entered autumn: The season of colors and fall fashion. It is called the autumnal equinox, when the direct rays of the sun touch exactly at the equator. It will be autumn until Dec. 21, the first day of the winter solstice.
