Students partake in spirited weekend
Homecoming 2005 was a mix of the usual and unusual.
The usual? The Rock Rally was a success, University President
Michael Rao and alumni ran in a five-kilometer race and the parade and
cardboard boat race drew enthusiastic crowds.
The unusual? Central Michigan University won the football game against Ohio University in a
dominating 37-10 performance.
Also, Larry Joe Campbell of ABC’s “According to Jim” returned to his
alma mater as Grand Marshal in the parade and performed in an
improvisational comedy show Saturday night.
After the show, Campbell returned to his favorite collegiate
watering hole, The Bird Bar and Grill.
The Woldt/Emmons team won the Maroon Cup this year, edging out
Barnes Hall and On the Fly Productions in third place. Winners were
announced at the Homecoming dance Saturday night, the traditional
closer to the weekend’s festivities.
