The men’s club rugby team couldn’t make its conversion kicks in a 38-34
loss to Grand Valley State last weekend.

Conversion kicks will be something the team must improve on to beat
Bowling Green Saturday. The game is at 1 p.m. at the intramural fields.

Central opened its season with a loss against the University of
Michigan, but then rebounded the next week in beating rival Western
Michigan.

CMU scored more goals than Grand Valley last week, but failed
conversion kicks cost CMU the game.

“It was a good game, but we couldn’t make our conversion kicks,”
said sophomore Eric Barrett.

Senior Rob Pawlowski said that some changes made against GVSU worked
out well.

“We changed things up on offense and defensive that helped us,”
Pawlowski said.

Youth has proved to play a significant role in this year’s team.

“We have a lot of freshmen stepping up to the plate this year,”
Pawlowski said.  “There are a bunch of high school football
players who are fitting in great.”

CMU has 20 new players on the team, two of whom are starters.

“The new players picked up really well so far,” said club president
Steve Barrett. “Last year was a down year, and we are looking a
lot better this year.”
