An international medical technology company has joined the Mount
Pleasant SmartZone.
BlueWare, a Cadillac-based company used by more than 180 chain and
independent hospitals in the United States and United Kingdom, is the
new affiliate member of CMU’s SmartZone business accelerator program.
The company’s innovations include the Wellness Connection Electronic
Health Record, a different kind of approach to efficient medical record
management.
“These days, George Bush and Hillary Clinton cannot get in front of
a microphone without talking about electronic health care, and that’s
what we do,” said Rose Harr, BlueWare CEO and president.
SmartZone is a networking program that attracts prominent businesses
in the technology industry and allows students and faculty to be a part
of employment efforts.
The Michigan Economic Development Corporation conducts the Michigan
SmartZone program with the help universities and communities.
CMU’s SmartZone includes nine affiliated companies and is one of 11
in the state.
Brent Case, technology business development manager at CMU Research
Corp., has visited the BlueWare facilities in Cadillac.
“It’s similar to what you would see on TV,” he said. “Relatively
casual and a nice team environment.”
BlueWare also is involved with CMU on a regional initiative to
assist hospitals and clinics in adopting innovative technologies
to help them become more safe and reduce the overall cost of
health care.
Harr said BlueWare brings jobs and interesting projects to CMU.
Some of those projects include biomedical module work and health
care application developments.
Case recently posted three job openings at BlueWare about a month
ago for entry level software developers.
He said he would be happy to help any student get connected to the
companies.
Students can send their resumes to case2bm@cmich.edu.
