SnoFest aims to raise funds for Children’s Miracle Network

The Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity is fired up for its annual SnoFest fundraising drive benefiting the Children’s Miracle Network.

“Our goal is to give them as much as much money as humanly possible,” said Tony Yost, a Battle Creek junior. “So far we’re getting a lot of help from the community and we just want to keep that up.”

Yost said the Children’s Miracle Network is the official philanthropy of SAE.

SAE started selling Children’s Miracle Network balloons and “Miracle Maker” bracelets Monday in the Bovee University Center’s Down Under Food Court.

The balloons come in various sizes, depending on the amount donated, and will be displayed in lower level of the UC, said Kyle Washer, SnoFest co-chair and Farmington Hills senior.

“It’s going great,” Washer said.

The fraternity hosted its SnoFest date auction in the library Tuesday, which featured 35 SAE members available to the highest bidder.

The SnoFest fundraising drive will end with a bowling challenge from 4 to 10 p.m. on

Feb. 24, Washer said.

The goal of the bowling event is to raise $3,500 for the charity, Washer said.

The Student Activity Center’s bowling facility is being loaned to the fraternity free of charge for the event, said Lake Isabella senior Craig Torgerson.

“We have to pay for the staff and that’s it,” he said.

Torgerson said remaining money collected would be donated to the Children’s Miracle Network.

The bowling challenge entry fee is $50 for a six-person team and includes two games, shoes, pizza, soda and a T-shirt for each participant.

Prizes for the top competitors may or may not be given out, depending on the total amount of money received, Washer said.

More information on SnoFest, including the bowling registration form, can found at the SAE CMU Chapter Web site at saemido.org.
