St. Andre ‘honored’ to follow in Kohrman’s footsteps
Mathematics Professor Richard St. Andre will serve as interim dean of the College of Science and Technology when Dean Bob Kohrman retires.
St. Andre, who served as interim dean of the college in 2002 while Kohrman served as interim provost, said the position is an honor.
He said he is pleased to have the opportunity to help his college and CMU.
“The college has a number of very good programs going,” he said. “I’ll do my best to continue them.”
St. Andre said he intends to continue development on current projects, including a doctorate program in the Science of Advanced Materials.
He joined the mathematics department in 1971 and became computer science chairman in 1984. He moved to the Florida Institute of Technology in 1986. In 1988, he returned to CMU and the following year was named associate chair of the computer science department.
In 1997, he became associate dean of the college. He returned to teaching full-time in 2006.
St. Andre said a search to fill the position should be completed by July 1, but he does not plan to apply for the job.
