Professors develop safe weight loss pill
The danger of a diet pill may soon be in the past, according to The South End.
Two professors from Wayne State University have developed a weight loss supplement that is an all-natural non-stimulant, opposite of competing weight loss pills.
Joseph Artiss, pathology professor, and Catherine Jen, WSU’s Nutrition and Food Science Department chairwoman, formed the ArtJen Complexus Holding Corp. to market their new pill, Alpha-Fibe FBCx.
Artiss’s intent when creating the pill was to treat Type 2 Diabetes, but what he discovered was a way to treat the growing problem of obesity.
Alpha-Fibe FBCx targets saturated and trans fats. It also stimulates the stomach to feel full sooner. Customers of this product have had positive results. Alpha-Fibe FBCx can be purchased over the counter and online.

University takes initiative to address global warming
The University of Michigan is taking an initiative to address global warming, according to The Michigan Journal.
“Focus the Nation” is directed toward finding solutions to this world issue.
A 10-year lag was granted to developing countries, including the United States, to decline their emissions of carbon dioxide by 2015.
The program began Jan. 21 and an online poll will be available until Feb. 12.
The poll, which asks for participants to address the top five priorities the United States should act upon to reduce emissions, can be found on U-M’s Web site.
“Focus the Nation” will host activities in 1,450 institutions nationwide.
“Global warming is a terrible environmental problem. It’s going to take the strength of the entire world to tackle this problem,” said U-M student Brittney Gamble.
