“The Life and Times of Grizzly Adams” (1974):
Legendary outdoorsman and beardsman Grizzly Adams (Dan Haggerty) is exiled into the great outdoors and learns how to cope and survive.
“Cast Away” (2000):
Federal Express Executive Chuck Noland (Tom Hanks) is stranded on an island after his plane crash-lands into the ocean. While on the island, he learns about the outdoors, himself, and how to grow a great beard.
“Jaws” (1975):
The original summer blockbuster featured the mysterious man-eating shark, and the three men hunting him down for the safety of the local people. The story follows beardless Chief Brody (Roy Scheider), shark expert Hooper (the always-bearded Richard Dreyfuss) and salty sailor Quint (Robert Shaw, sporting legendary sideburns) in their battle against Steven Spielberg’s epic underwater beast.
“300″ (2006):
Zack Snyder’s adaptation of the comic book retelling of the battle between the Spartans and Persians at Thermopylae is twice removed from historical accuracy. The one thing that remains consistent is that King Leonidas (Gerard Butler) had a ferocious, well-groomed beard.
