What do you think about a senator’s recent suggestion that universities can cut health care costs by not hiring professors who smoke?

“I think it’s a ridiculous idea. The fact that they smoke has no impact on how they would teach.”

Jordan VanHemert,
Zeeland freshman

“I don’t think it’s any of their business. If professors want to smoke, let them smoke.”

Laura Gush,
Allen Park senior

“I think it’s a really stupid idea. It’s kind of inhumane to not hire them because of something they choose to do.”

Ben Lutz,
Au Gres freshman

“I think it’s very unfair. Smoking is a personal lifestyle choice that would not affect how professional they are.”

Janessa Harris,
Jenison freshman
