When CMU wastes $20,000 to $40,000 on liberal speakers like Michael Moore, Rushdie, Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, Wesley Clark and a parade of others, then I see no reason we can’t spend some money promoting the most visible CMU student in years, Dan LeFevour. Not only is it good marketing and PR for athletics, but it’s good visibility and PR for CMU overall. Quit wasting money on non-CMU people like speakers, then we’ll re-address the billboard.

Don’t worry, folks, the university has tons of money! In fact it has so much just lying around that it can afford to simply waste it. If you don’t believe me, take a look at the article that explains how the marketing geniuses wasted $50,000 on a 60-foot-high billboard of our “famous” quarterback. So nobody worry when the roof leaks or the lights don’t work because CMU has it all under control. And just in case there is a problem, they have a really simple and very effective solution … raise tuition, baby! I wish all businesses could run as smooth and efficient as a university.

When I was writing and editing sports at CMU in the late 1960s, Jane McNamara had insight that something like Title IX was going to come about. She was an inspiration to such female athletes here in that era such as Karen Lehman, a track star running AAU, and Lynne Allsup, the swimmer who almost made the Olympic team in 1968. She was a pioneer. God Bless Her.

Isaac Brown is truly an outstanding player and I’m glad to see him doing so well.

Good for them. Hopefully they can do it again. I’m not really too shocked they’re picked again. I don’t see much improvement in the rest of the MAC anyways. Heck, almost the entire MAC outside of CMU and a couple other teams were awful from top to bottom last season. I stand corrected if I’m wrong, but wasn’t CMU one of the only .500 or better teams in overall won-loss record in the entire MAC last season?
I’m sure they’ll be good, if not even better than last year this year, but I hope there’s actually more competition in the conference this season, too.
