‘INSECURITIES’
Two students
exhibit photos
Niles junior Kate Burchett and Armada sophomore Liz Brass are putting insecurity on display this month. The photos exhibit deals with insecurity and body image and will be on exhibit from today until Oct. 31 in the Extended Hours Study Room in the Charles V. Park Library. The project was something both students were interested in. Burchett is an English major, and Brass a social work major and art minor. Those interested in viewing the exhibit can go during the library’s hours. The exhibit and free and open to the public. For more information, call Exhibition Coordinator Megan Moreno at 774-2165.

Communication cause
Events continue for Deaf Awareness Week
A few more events will take place as part of Deaf Awareness Week. From noon to 1 p.m. today on the front lawn of the Health Professions Building is the Silent Lunch with Communications Disorders Instructor Kendra Miller. Those attending should bring their own lunch. In case of rain, the lunch will meet in the Health Professions Building. Also today, Deaf Games with the American Sign Language Society is from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Bovee University Center’s Rotunda. National ASL Performer Patricia (Trix) Bruce will speak during Thursday night’s “Whose American Sign Language is it?” Bruce, a deaf storyteller, poet and actress, has been involved in the performing arts since 1980 when she played Helen Keller in her freshman year of high school. Many of Bruce’s performances draw from her life experiences. The event takes place from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in Warriner Hall’s Plachta Auditorium. Admission is $3 for students with a student ID and $5 for the general public.

Country music
Dirt Drifters
to perform
Thursday night
Students looking to hear live country music have a chance on Thursday. Country band Dirt Drifters will perform from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. Thursday at Real Food on Campus in Carey Hall. The band consists of Jeff Middleton, lead guitar and vocals; Ron Gomez, bass; Nick Diamond, drums; and brothers Matt Fleener, lead vocals and acoustic guitar, and Ryan Fleener, electric guitar and vocals. The event is free and open to the public. It is sponsored by On the Fly Productions.

Video games
Xbox 360 tour
hits campus
Students will have the chance to see what’s new with Xbox and preview upcoming games Thursday. From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Finch Fieldhouse Room 110, Program Board will host Game U: The Xbox 360 College tour. The event is free.

COMING OUT WEEK
GSA to host
events next week
The Gay Straight Alliance will be hosting Coming Out Week from Oct. 6 to Oct. 10. The group will host “Coming Out At Kaya” at 7 p.m. on Monday at Kaya Coffee and Tea Company, 1029 S. Phi Sigma Pi
