Men’s club rugby looks ahead afer successful season

The men’s club rugby team’s expectations are elevated after finishing the season with its best record since 2002.

CMU ended its season Sunday by beating Michigan State 22-10 in the consolation bracket of the Division II playoffs.

With the win, Central finished with a 6-3 record, recording a win against each opponent in its conference.

“This was our beat season since I have been here in my four-year tenure,” Burling said. “Making the playoffs was a goal of ours and we are all really happy of how our season turned out.”

The team will return in the spring and continue working for another successful season next fall. Burling will step down in the spring and will help find players to fill his spot. But he will stay involved and help develop fundamentals.
