Creeping me out

With all the recent posturing about who will serve what position in the new Obama Administration and what will happen when he takes office, from whether he’ll repeal all the tax cuts under the second Bush Administration to what breed of dog the First Family will have playing on the South Lawn.

I can see how ridiculous some of these questions could get. Will his daughters go to public or private school? Is his wife, First Lady-elect Michelle Obama, going to drive her children to school? What are some of the clothing brands the Obama family wears? Where will they go on vacation next year?

It isn’t the fact that the media shouldn’t have an idea as to what goes on with politicians, but rather the amount of coverage that goes into finding out the truth behind what will be the most powerful and influential family in all of America. Not to mention how far the questions will go and whom the inquiries will go out to next.

I am referring to the level of interviews that the Palin residence has gone through since the GOP loss earlier this November. Not even three weeks have gone by and Gov. Sarah Palin, R-Alaska, has been interviewed as many, if not more, times than while she was on the campaign trail – and how intrusive the actual discussions have gotten makes me troubled.

FoxNews particularly has developed an unhealthy obsession with Sarah Palin. They have gone so far that I don’t care to hear references of “moose burgers” or “caribou chili” any more! What is the point of showing everyone what it’s like to ride on a snowmobile when most Americans won’t care to ride one themselves because it’s too cold to do it?

To make matters seem weirder, Greta Van Susteren seems a little too obsessed in her most recent interview with the governor of Alaska, claiming she wanted to cover every moment of her life so that everyone can find out what the governor is like. Has Van Susteren taken her medication lately, or is she looking to creep everyone out with her obvious infatuation with Palin? Scarily, she isn’t the only one out there who doesn’t seem to want to leave her alone, despite the frigidness of Alaska.

Of course, all of this attention that is still being paid to Sarah Palin is in response to her possible consideration for public office in either the U.S. Senate or the presidency in 2012 or 2016. The likelihood of her winning the Presidency is rather slim considering the current unpopularity of the GOP, but that doesn’t seem to deter the media as they seek to grab as much time and coverage of Palin’s every move as they conceivably can.

I just wish the media would sometimes leave people alone, just for once. Sadly, the only thing the media knows is how to make money, and obsession often sells.

Rich in sponsorships, bankrupt on dignity, I guess.
