Beyond 2010

CMU looking for student feedback

Central Michigan University is asking students for input as the university thinks strategically beyond CMU 2010. Students interested in voicing their opinions can do so online by logging onto planning.cmich.edu/beyond2010/input.htm. The university also will host two faculty open meetings concerning the issue. Faculty meetings will take place at 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. today in the Bovee University Center Lake St. Clair Room. All interested faculty are encouraged to attend one of the meetings and make reservations with Human Resources by calling 774-6447.

Native American

Guests to try traditional foods

Native American Programs will host a Native American Heritage Month Food Taster today. Guests will have the opportunity to try traditional Native American food and take part in dancing and drumming. Admission is $3 for students and $5 for the general public. The event will take place at 5 p.m. in the UC Rotunda. It is part of Native American Heritage Month. For more information, call Native American Programs at 774-2508.

International Night

Event to promote cultural awareness

As part of International Education Week, the International Club will host International Night at 7 p.m. in Warriner Hall’s Plachta Auditorium. The annual event will feature ethnic music and dance, a food taster and a fashion show, which will exhibit traditional attire from around world. The event is free.

Travel photos

Free event includes lunch

Peggy Brisbane, associate director of publications for photography, will talk about taking travel photos and photography tips to follow when traveling. The free event, which is sponsored by the Office of International Education, will take place at noon Tuesday in Bovee UC Terrace Room C. A soup lunch will be provided. For more information, call the Office of International Education at 774-4308.

School of Music

Tuba/Euphonium Ensemble performs Tuesday

The School of Music will present a performance by the CMU Tuba/Euphonium Ensemble on Tuesday. The event is free and will take place at 8 p.m. in the Music Building’s Staples Family Concert Hall. For more information call Director of Music Events John Jacobson at 774-3738.

Open Mic Night

Students welcome to perform

On the Fly Productions will host “Open Mic Night: Musician’s Paradise” on Tuesday. The event will take place at 9 p.m. in the Real Food on Campus residential restaurant in the Towers residence hall complex. Those interested in performing can e-mail OTF at onthefly@cmich.edu. Admission is free.

Presenter to speak Tuesday, Wednesday

The Center for Professional and Personal Ethics will sponsor presentations by Michael Strong on Tuesday and Wednesday. Strong is a pioneer in education and independent learning and is the co-founder of FLOW, a global movement that promotes productive activity through creativity and optimism. Tuesday’s presentation, “Philosophy and Human Flourishing,” will take place at 7 p.m. in Anspach Hall Room 254, and Wednesday’s presentation, “FLOW: Conscious Capitalism,” will take place at 7 p.m. in Anspach Hall Room 257. Both presentations are free. For more information, call the Center for Professional and Personal Ethics at 774-1734.
