Management changes; Pita Pit reopens

John Brumbaugh

The Pita Pit, located at 1620 S. Mission St., reopened in December after closing this past March, when the former owner left town owing many employees money.

“I’ve been here two times now,” said New Lothrop junior Paul Malott. “The pitas are by far my favorite thing.”

Previous owner, Curtis Turner, failed to pay several of his employees more than $10,000 in back pay before finally losing his franchise. The restaurant was shut down March 25 by Pita Pit, Inc.

Rochester Hills junior Brandon McCauley said he always enjoyed The Pita Pit and was glad to see it back in business.

“It’s kind of like Subway, except the stuff inside comes in a pita,” McCauley said. “It’s nice to change it up sometimes.”
