Spartans beat Jayhawks, win ninth straight

Kansas 62, No. 12 Michigan St. 75

Michigan State’s Kalin Lucas lead the Spartans to an easy win, scoring 22 points against last years national champions, the Kansas Jayhawks Saturday in East Lansing. The Spartans, now 13-2, have won nine games straight. Sherron Collins led the Jayhawks with a game high of 25 points for the 11-4 team. Kansas’ Cole Aldrich led the game is rebounds with 11 while MSU’s Raymar Morgan had 8.

Ball St. 46, Eastern Michigan 42

The Ball State Cardinals (6-7) defeated fellow Mid-American Conference opponent Eastern Michigan Eagles on Saturday in Ypsilanti. Ball State’s Jarrod Jones scored a game high 15 points while only EMU’s Brandon Bowdry finished in double digits for the Eagles, scoring 16. Anthony Newell led the game and the Cardinals in rebounds, with 10, while Justin Dobbins had six for the Eagles.

No. 21 Louisville 61, No. 17 Villanova 60

Terrence Williams scored in the last 7 seconds, giving the Louisville Cardinals a comeback win against Villanova Saturday in Philadelphia. Dante Cunningham led the game with 21 points for the Wildcats, while Samardo Samuels had 15 for the Cardinals. Williams led the Cardinals with 14 rebounds 6 assists and 2 steals. Antonio Pena had 8 rebounds for the Wildcats.

No. 22 West Virginia 53, No. 15 Marquette 75

The Golden Eagles were down by two at the half, but turned it around to beat the Mountaineers on Saturday in Milwaukee. Jerel McNeal led Marquette with 26 points while Da’Sean Butler led the West Virginia with 16 points. The Golden Eagles are now 15-2, and 4-0 in the Big East, while the Mountaineers are 11-4 (1-2).

St. Johns 67, No.1 Pittsburgh 90

Pitt continued its undefeated streak to 15 after a win against St. Johns. The Pitt Panthers were lead in points by DeJaun Blair, who put up 23 points and grabbed 15 rebounds. D.J. Kennedy led the Red Storm with 18 points. Pitt is now ranked No. 1 for the first time in 60 years.

No. 9 Syracuse 82, Rutgers 66

The 16-1 Syracuse Orange defeated the 9-8 Rutgers Scarlet Knights on Saturday. Paul Harris had 26 points and Arinze Onaku added 19 for Syracuse. While Anthony Farmer had 17 points and Micheal Rosario put up 15 for Rutgers. The Orange are now 4-0 in the Big East while Rutgers are on a five-game losing streak.
