‘Home of the Brave’ features activists
The 2004 documentary, “Home of the Brave,” is being shown at 7 p.m. Jan. 22 in the Charles V. Park Library Auditorium and examines the life of Viola Liuzzo, a 39-year-old Detroit woman who was the only white woman murdered in the civil rights movement by the Ku Klux Klan, according to the event’s coordinator.
“This documentary gives us a completely different view of the civil rights movement, unlike other films such as ‘Eyes on the Prize,’” said Stephanie Mathson, a library faculty member.
Liuzzo was killed by a shot to the head after the march on Montgomery an the documentary movie is about 75 minutes long and is not rated.
