Coffeehouse concert in Towers today to benefit Isabella County United Way
The scene has been set, the performers are rehearsing and the coffee will be brewing.
At 8:30 p.m. today in the Real Food On Campus residential restaurant in the Towers Residence Hall, the doors will be open for Kulhavi’s Coffeehouse Benefit Concert.
“This benefit concert will feature great bands, rich coffee, and tasty coffeehouse appetizers,” said West Bloomfield sophomore Sarah Dodson.
There will be five local acts performing, including Troy sophomore Joseph Hertler.
“As far as this concert goes, I really hope that people are able to enjoy the music and have a good time,” Hertler said. “We have some really talented musicians playing and I couldn’t be more excited to share the stage with them.”
Dodson is coordinator of the event and said admission is $1, however donations are encouraged. Dodson said all proceeds will go to the United Way of Isabella County.
“It’s fantastic,” said Nicole Bliss, executive director of the United Way of Isabella County. “Having the support of students is wonderful.”
Grand Blanc sophomore Stacey Bush said there will be “entertainment, food and laughter.”
Dodson said the United Way of Isabella County educates and provides basic needs, strengthens families, cares for the elderly, prevents substance abuse and violence, protects children and reaches out to those in need.
The concert is expected to last until 11 p.m. and White Lake Junior Kevin Thibodeau will be performing.
“Coffee and music is a very good combination,” Thibodeau said. “There’s something about sipping on a warm cup while listening to some chill music.”
