As Pittsburgh and Arizona restaurant and bar owners are undoubtedly preparing for the frenzy that is Super Bowl Sunday, several local restaurants are also getting ready.

Several Mount Pleasant establishments, including the Blue Gator Sports Pub and Grill, Buffalo Wild Wings Grill & Bar and O’Kelly’s Sports Bar & Grill are all hosting Super Bowl parties or offering specials this Sunday during the face-off between the Arizona Cardinals and the Pittsburgh Steelers for Super Bowl XLIII, in Tampa, Fla.

O’Kelly’s, co-owner Norm Smith said the bar and grill is anticipating about 200 people for their annual Super Bowl party and they are taking reservations. Guests with reservations will be guaranteed appetizer specials before the game.

“If you call and get reservations, you’ll get half off all appetizers,” said Casey McGuire, O’Kelly’s manager. “About 75-80 have already made reservations. It’ll be moderately busy. It’s always a lot of fun.”

There will be $3 Miller Lite drafts offered all day.

O’Kelly’s, 2000 S. Mission St., has 32 televisions, including nine high definition screens and six projection screens.

Miller Lite and Bud Lite representatives will also be on hand for raffles and promotional giveaways.

Staff at Buffalo Wild Wings, 1904 S. Mission St., staff are already taking orders for traditional buffalo wings by the dozen. A special deal that includes 75 wings for $42.99 will be offered from today until the conclusion of the game.

There will be chances to win raffle giveaways for Bud Light grills, inflatable chairs and NFL glasses, said Manager Michael Miller. He is expecting 150 people Sunday afternoon.

Viewers will be surrounded by 25 televisions, including eight HD screens and an HD projection screen. Televisions ranging from 34 to 100 inches are located throughout the restaurant.

The Blue Gator, 106 N. Court St., is offering half-off appetizers and 50 varieties of bottled beer for $2.50 from 4 p.m. until the game has ended. With 15 HD screens, ranging from 42 to 100 inches, there should not be any wandering eyes or an empty seat in the house, said Manager Richard Swindlehurst.

“We’re planning on having a lot of people here, hopefully we’ll be busy. We expect more than 50 people,” said Jenna Young, Blue Gator bartender.
