University reaches settlements in DiTucci case

Central Michigan University confirmed Monday it has reached settlements with two former women’s soccer players in a sexual harassment case, according to a press release.
According to Jennifer Salvatore, the fomer players’ attorney, the pair allege former soccer coach Tony DiTucci engaged in inappropriate communication and conduct before he was placed on leave and subsequently resigned on Oct. 15, 2009.
Salvatore said Friday that the settlements totald $450,000.
“CMU felt it was in the best interest of the players and the University to settle the claims out of court,” reads the press release.
The statement also revealed that CMU has “retained the services of an independent consultant to review and strengthen existing policies and procedures to ensure a positive educational and athletic experience for our student-athletes.”
