Those with good ideas ‘Make a Pitch’ in Grawn on Thursday

Have a big idea?

It could be worth some big money.

With only five minutes to pitch their entrepreneurial idea, students will have a chance to earn $500 on Thursday.

During this Thursday’s Make A Pitch Contest, in Grawn 100, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., 14 students will pitch their ideas for a product or service to judges.

This event happens twice a semester with two main incentives, the cash prize and an opportunity for students to articulate their business plans.

Accounting faculty, Dr. James Damitio, is one of the judges who developed this idea, to give students encouragement and a starting point for their final business projects.

“Make A Pitch gives them the first stage of getting and idea out there and concretized in their mind,” he said. “And a lot of them will choose this idea for their final project business plan.”

All entrepreneur majors will go to Make A Pitch competition as their project, and this event is open to everyone.

The biggest moment for Damitio, is to see the enthusiasm from students about their developing projects and ideas, he said.

“It’s interesting to see the projects they are developing and to see their passion for their ideas, and having done some research that this product is new.”
