Associate dean of students retires Tuesday

Updated at 11:10 a.m. Friday

Associate Dean of Students Mike Owens retired Tuesday, said Dean of Students Bruce Roscoe in an e-mail to Central Michigan Life.

“Mike desired to ‘depart quietly’ and we honored this by not informing people in advance or holding an event in his honor,” Roscoe said in the e-mail.

Roscoe said Owens made the decision to retire earlier this year.

The associate dean of students position may not be refilled, Roscoe said.

“In this time of economic challenges, it
will be prudent to move cautiously and deliberately,” he said.

Roscoe said he will be relying on his assistant deans to take care of the associate dean work until a decision to fill the position comes up. He said that decision would come in the next few weeks.
