BREAKING NEWS: Robert Kennedy Jr. coming to CMU in November
email

Robert Kennedy Jr. is coming to Central Michigan University in November.

Kennedy, John F. Kennedy’s nephew, will speak at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 19 in Warriner Hall’s Plachta Auditorium about the environment in a speech titled, “Green gold rush; A vision for energy, independence, jobs and national wealth,” as part of the Speaker Series.

“He’s so much into the environment and it’s such a strong issue now,” said Bob Ebner, director of University Events. “He’s such a well-respected speaker for that topic.”

In 2009, he was named one of Rolling Stone’s “100 Agents of Change.” And Kennedy serves as senior attorney for the Natural Resources Defense Council, chief prosecuting attorney for the Hudson Riverkeeper, president of Waterkeeper Alliance and is a partner in the clean tech work of Silicon Valley’s VantagePoint Ventures, according to a biography from the Speaker’s Series.

It cost the Speaker Series $35,000 to bring Kennedy to CMU.

Where is the ‘diversity’ that we always hear about at CMU. This school has never spent a dime on a conservative or conservative-leaning speaker since I’ve been at CMU first as an undergraduate and now as a graduate student. We have hosted the whole array of liberal to far-left speakers. Michael Moore, Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, Wesley Clark, Tom Hayden, Morris Dees, Angela Davis, Ron Jeremy . . . the list goes on. Seriously – what a waste of our money.

Um, actually yes there have been. I specifically remember there being a right-wing speaker in I believe 2007. I remember because I was a senior there at the time. And I remember there being a few others as well. The difference was they were lesser-known right-wing speakers who spoke in smaller venues compared to some of the Michael Moore, Jessie Jacksons and Sharptons that have been there. Not even trying to start anything, I’m just saying there has been some, just not of the big-name variety.

Pat Buchanan and John Engler both spoke at CMU in the past too.

Not to mention Horowitz last year, so I think your complaint is a bit weak.

It is great that the spewmerchant Robert Kennedy Jr is coming to CMU. He is pitching a lie called global warming, while preventing the construction of an offshore windmill farm because it might spoil his view from the beach … please Bobby…you are a piece of work. Anyone who buys is load of garbage lacks the intellectual curiousity that is required of all university students. Go and listen to him, but learn about how he fails to live the life he espouses…just like all of the other limo libs that make up the Kennedy Family…silver spoons in their mouths…

Wonder what Robert Kennedy Jr. thinks of the $2 billion dollars of taxpayer money we are sending to Brazil for oil exploration. Can’t do it here where it would really boost the economy, but we can send money we do not have to another country. Go figure!
