Soccer team defeats St. Bonaventure in the rain
It was not quite how coach Tom Anagnost said he wanted his team to play, but the soccer team won 1-0 against St. Bonaventure late Friday night at the CMU Soccer Complex.
“I thought we played sloppy, especially at the end of the first half,” Anagnost said. “We had a lot of young players in there and I was kind of hoping that the core would speak up a little more.”
Freshmen Laura Twidle scored her second goal in as many games at the 70-minute mark after a give away by the St. Bonaventure defense.
Still, Twidle said her and her teammates were not satisfied with a 1-0 victory.
“I think we can do a lot better,” Twidle said. “It was kind of messy at points. We gave the ball up a lot.”
Anagnost said the area where his team needs to improve the most is communication, especially in the defensive end.
“Our backs that go in will need to understand everything that we do to a tee,” he said. “And they have to communicate and organize, otherwise it will be a struggle no matter who plays.”
