Students should be involved with Presidential Screening Committee

email

As the search for the next university president continues to unfold, I would like to urge the students to participate in this important process by offering valuable student input to the Presidential Screening Committee.

Our university is in a transformational period and the selection of a president will impact our educations, careers and lives.

At 7 p.m. Monday in the French Auditorium (Room 118) of the Education and Human Services building, the Student Government Association will sponsor an open forum where students, faculty, alumni and community members can voice their ideas, concerns and hopes for the next president of Central Michigan University.

Members of the Presidential Screening Committee will be in attendance to consider your input and answer questions.

As an important member of the university community, we urge you to participate in the presidential search process by attending this open forum.

Thank you.

Jason Nichol

Why can’t we have a professor screening committee?

Everyone talks about a high teacher student ratio and how it gives, “more opportunity for the professor to connect one-on-one with students.”

Let’s try something. Go into a classroom and look at the attention of the students in an average professor’s class. (25 students or so).

Now go into the giant amphitheater where Tony Robbins does his seminars……………….15,000 people…one “professor.”

It’s not about the ratio..it’s about the quality of the professor!

Don’t get me wrong…there are some amazing professors here who LOVE what they do…

But there are so many who don’t give a crap about students..and I wish they would be fired.

But Lord knows it’s all about officials typing these bullcrap lines into newspapers and headlines but never actually seeing how professors act in the classroom.
