Brianne M. Hovey, a Lawton senior, died Thursday, the Office of Student Life confirmed today.
Bernadette Bland, administrative assistant to the Dean of Students, confirmed to Central Michigan Life this afternoon that Hovey died Thursday. Bland said she did not have a cause of death immediate available.
Hovey went by the nickname “Bri.” She lived in Larzelere Hall for her first two years on campus.
The 21-year-old was a member of Central Michigan University’s College Democrats for about three years, and most remember her passion for science. She was a neuroscience major.
“Bri was a really kind person,” said Southgate junior Stephen Johnson, commuications director for CMU’s College Democrats. “She was a great person.”
It was not hard to make Hovey laugh, said Karl Bouwhuis, a Lowell graduate assistant.
He said Hovey was one of his best friends, as he dated her for two and a half years.
“Bri was an amazing woman. She was a science nerd — really quirky, but we loved her for it,” Bouwhuis said. “It was the best two and a half years of my life. I am really sorry she’s gone. I loved her.”

Brianne was a lovely, intelligent, quiet, talented, young woman who will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her. She loved her life and friends at Central Michigan University and she looked forward to a career in research. As the giving person she was, she even donated all her organs to The Gift of Life so others could live on. Please send any donations in her memory to giftoflifemichigan.org, or to cmichedu in her honor where the money will be used at the Volunteer Center. Please specify that in the comment section.
