Sports Update: Soccer wins 1-0 in OT
The soccer team won its tenth straight game Friday in a 1-0 overtime victory at Nothern Illinois.
“I don’t think we worked very hard in the first half,” said coach Tom Anagnost. “The other team wanted it more in the first half and it showed.”
Sophomore Chelsi Abbott scored the winning goal 5 minutes and 7 seconds into the first overtime.
The win gave the Chippewas its tenth straight shutout, which set a Mid-American Conference record.
“The first half we really played their game,” Abbott said. “In the second half we decided to the get the ball more in our favor and decided to get more physical with them.”
Central plays at 1p.m. Sunday against Western Michigan in Kalamazoo.
