Keeping up with fashion is easy with technology
Fashion advice may be easier to get now than any other time.
While magazines and television are two common ways people stay trendy, technology has added other ways to that list.
Podcasts, Twitter, e-mails, blogs and online fashion magazines are also a few of the other ways to stay up to date with fashion.
Some popular podcasts for fashion are Style.com, Vogue.TV, MODTV: A Fashion Network and Chic.TV Fashion. Podcasts are free and anyone can subscribe to them on iTunes.
Fall has arrived and the winter season is soon approaching and soon scarves will be a hot commodity. Find a scarf that’s unique, since many people will be wearing one, keep your scarf creative. Any color or type of scarf is a wardrobe staple. Patterned scarves, bright scarves, gem-colored scarves are all a great fashion statement. Of course, don’t be scared to wear a bold scarf, no scarf is out of style this season!
“New fashion gives me things to shop for and feel good about my outward appearance,” said Kimball senior Nina Stewart.
Popular Twitter accounts that can give followers up-to date on fashion are NY Times Style, Clutch Magazine, Pop Fierce, Distill Magazine, AnOther Magazine, A New Mode and DuJour Mag- just to name a few.
E-mails also are an easy way to stay in touch with fashion.
“If you’re busy, an e-mail is pretty efficient, but very one dimensional,” said Canada senior Yemi Olumolade. “I moderately like to stay up with fashion and I love to admire new trends, but I find I’m too lazy to put forward the cognitive energy to try and mimic them, I stick to my style of relative simplicity.”
Some different sites that send e-mails are Forever21, ArdenB, Chadwicks, Shoebuy and The Zoe Report. E-mails are sent directly to you and inform you of the latest trends.
Fashion blogs also are on the rise for getting creative fashion tips into the world. One of the most popular blogs is Chictopia.com. Chictopia brings together fashionistas from all over the world to display their style and tips.
Magazines and their online counterparts are also helpful for fashion insight.
Eagle freshman Kellie Eavey looks at style on campus, but also in magazines.
“I always take note of what people are wearing or what’s in the stores and what my favorite celebrities are wearing,” she said.
Online magazine sites such as Elle, W, Nylon Magazine and Women’s Wear Daily are popular.
Online stores also are a convenient way to check out the latest trends for some.
“Every once in a while, when I have the free time, I look at some Web sites of stores to see if there’s anything new and cute. I also get e-mails from them, giving me an idea of what’s ‘in,’” Olumolade said.
